Picking up those brushes again.

Hi and welcome to the occasional mutterings of Dave Doc, a military modeller and some time gamer. Gaming and model making has given me a real education, History & Geography(obvious really), Artistry, Politics, Economics, Logistics, Project Management -you try building miniature armies without the last 3.

I will use the blog to record my creations & the odd occasion I actually do some gaming.

I have always been inspired by the aesthetic side of gaming. Playing on well constructed terrain using excellently painted units is always a joy.

Gaming - ACW - Battle of Stones River / Murfreesboro.

We popped along to the Pendraken HQ today to get the ACW collection out. Pendraken have set up a great gaming space with a number of 6x4 tables available. We used two today to set up our game .

Martin was playing Rebs attempting to destroy 9 Union brigades , and keep the town clear . James had the Union who had destroy 7 Reb brigades or contest the town .

Gaming surrounded by things to inspire and buy - what’s not to like .

I have sourced and made up a whole load of new sabot trays - to get them consistent- I think it helps in the look

Some impetuous Union charges broke the Reb centre

The Rebs lost more brigades in combat , but were managing to rally them mostly .

James crosses the river which was just rough ground for this game .

James get a brigade into the town that saw off the counterattack and that sealed a Union victory .

All good fun
