Picking up those brushes again.

Hi and welcome to the occasional mutterings of Dave Doc, a military modeller and some time gamer. Gaming and model making has given me a real education, History & Geography(obvious really), Artistry, Politics, Economics, Logistics, Project Management -you try building miniature armies without the last 3.

I will use the blog to record my creations & the odd occasion I actually do some gaming.

I have always been inspired by the aesthetic side of gaming. Playing on well constructed terrain using excellently painted units is always a joy.

Sudan - Indian Army units 15th (Loodianah) Sikhs

Finally back to some painting progress. One of the things I really like about the Sudan campaigns is the variety of Imperial units that were involved. This week has seen the completion of large unit - the 15th Loodianah Sikh battalion. Along with a few other bloggers we are meeting up on-line for a shared video/audio paint along and chat - its working well and helping us all be productive.

It's a 48 figure battalion with an extra mounted and dismounted officer. These are the Perry Miniatures which I picked up from a fellow blogger last year. (thanks Kevin). I removed the bayonet from the rifle as these did seem too flimsy to last , a few had already broken just cleaning them up. I am also not sure on a march they would have had them affixed anyway.

I have a few more Indian Army units to do yet as well.

I was also kindly gifted  an interesting terrain set made by JG Miniatures who look to do some interesting stuff - albeit mainly for larger scales.

Some very nice rock sets - just right for my Apache to hide in! Should do duty for the Sudan as well.

There is still plenty of life left in the Sudan lead pile yet!
