Picking up those brushes again.

Hi and welcome to the occasional mutterings of Dave Doc, a military modeller and some time gamer. Gaming and model making has given me a real education, History & Geography(obvious really), Artistry, Politics, Economics, Logistics, Project Management -you try building miniature armies without the last 3.

I will use the blog to record my creations & the odd occasion I actually do some gaming.

I have always been inspired by the aesthetic side of gaming. Playing on well constructed terrain using excellently painted units is always a joy.

Terrain - Quarry

I needed to knock up a quarry terrain piece for the D Day game . I based it on a piece if A5 MDF and built up 4 layers of 10mm XPS to the shape I wanted - I little bit of carving with a knife and the job was done. The usual PVA and sand mix to texture .

It only took an evening to build and another to paint up so pleased with it . I think I will do a larger version based on an A4 sheet at some point
