Picking up those brushes again.

Hi and welcome to the occasional mutterings of Dave Doc, a military modeller and some time gamer. Gaming and model making has given me a real education, History & Geography(obvious really), Artistry, Politics, Economics, Logistics, Project Management -you try building miniature armies without the last 3.

I will use the blog to record my creations & the odd occasion I actually do some gaming.

I have always been inspired by the aesthetic side of gaming. Playing on well constructed terrain using excellently painted units is always a joy.

Gordon Pasha

Well as I have the Mahdi for one side - I figured it was time for Major-General Charles George Gordon, CB also known as Chinese Gordon, Gordon Pasha, and Gordon of Khartoum to make an entry. I picked this guy up as part of Doug C's collection , gave him a litte more added highlights and a refresh of the varnish and basing. This is an old "Connoisseur" casting if i remember correctly, and rather fine too.

He is busy setting about organising his defences and organising his troops more of those shortly.

  1. Very nice!! I used to go to Gordon School, that was originally built next to the gardens of Gen Gordon's Gravesend house, when he was the governor at Tilbury fort!

  3. Very nice. Must get a General Gordon myself sometime. One of my favourite Victorian 'characters'. Thanks in no small part to Charlton Heston!
