Picking up those brushes again.

Hi and welcome to the occasional mutterings of Dave Doc, a military modeller and some time gamer. Gaming and model making has given me a real education, History & Geography(obvious really), Artistry, Politics, Economics, Logistics, Project Management -you try building miniature armies without the last 3.

I will use the blog to record my creations & the odd occasion I actually do some gaming.

I have always been inspired by the aesthetic side of gaming. Playing on well constructed terrain using excellently painted units is always a joy.

Going Loco...

Well more a visit to the local model railway club annual show (Cleveland Model Railway Club). This is normally a pretty good one , and this year again was a decent standard. There are always good tips , materials , tools and inspiration to be picked up. There is I think a lot of cross over in the skills between railway modelling and wargaming.

The large steel work lay our looked good - just needed more tanks!

Certainly some fine modelling skill involved

then it was look for some bits n bobs
I picked up an A2 and A4 cutting mat to refresh the work desk.

A static grass applicator, new "helping hands" tool, small anvil and pin vice

Some LED lights for the Gangster buldings , plus a couplE of "wagons" from the everything a £1 casualty bin - to rework for the Sudan railway..

Overall a good few hours out.
