Picking up those brushes again.

Hi and welcome to the occasional mutterings of Dave Doc, a military modeller and some time gamer. Gaming and model making has given me a real education, History & Geography(obvious really), Artistry, Politics, Economics, Logistics, Project Management -you try building miniature armies without the last 3.

I will use the blog to record my creations & the odd occasion I actually do some gaming.

I have always been inspired by the aesthetic side of gaming. Playing on well constructed terrain using excellently painted units is always a joy.

Zulu Wars.

First lot of recent acquisitions completed. Empress Miniatures new character releases.Assistant Commissary James Langley Dalton & Corporal Schiess. Absolutely superb bit of sculpting by Paul Hicks. Really enjoyed doing these two. More to come over the next week.

Added some troopers - done the "Silver Whistle" way - to test it for future large scale Zulu project.  White undercoat, blocked and acrylic washed - definitely a way of getting them done for an en masse. Cheers Pat.

Also Lt Colonel Pulleine

And a 3 day weekend to come, so some painting time planned

  9. Hi Dave,

Thanks for the plug and glad that my post was of some use.

You have done an excellent job on these and as you say, the method is great for doing en masse.

The painting of the character figures are superb and the backdrop finishes them off nicely.

Would you mind sharing where you got the backdrop from?

    Cheers,

    Pat.

    1. Always happy to pick up new techniques , you never know when you may need em.

The backdrop was just a simple google Rorkes Drift Picture and look at the various images

      ended up using this one
