Picking up those brushes again.

Hi and welcome to the occasional mutterings of Dave Doc, a military modeller and some time gamer. Gaming and model making has given me a real education, History & Geography(obvious really), Artistry, Politics, Economics, Logistics, Project Management -you try building miniature armies without the last 3.

I will use the blog to record my creations & the odd occasion I actually do some gaming.

I have always been inspired by the aesthetic side of gaming. Playing on well constructed terrain using excellently painted units is always a joy.

The "Grand" & the "Cattlemans"

I recieved my order from Gamecraft in the U.S this week - for a few more items to add to "Serenity". They are are really good pre cut MDF buildings. they are made from 3mm and go together easily enough with a bit of PVA. They were a reasonable dollar price and with a 20% of for the 4th of July week that covered the shipping too.

First up what will be the "Grandest" hotel in town. If you want to make these with more innards you can purchase an extra internal floor set - but it would also take a bit more personal modifications such as staircase etc to really finish the job. I am not intending to do much inside the buildings (he say hoping he won't regret that statement). They were given a spray of Humbrol Dark Brown and once dried a heavy brush with a Vallejo Iraqi Sand

It's a nice kit and plenty of room on the balcony and the boardwalk for figures on bases as well

In addition Morgan Earp has turned up in town , just eyeing up the posters of the local troublemakers - and perhaps in for an encounter with Eliza Johnson. The poster are a free download pdf sheet from The Rules With no name forum

Further down at the rougher end of town you will find the "Cattlemans Saloon" an establishment with a well deserved roughhouse reputation.

In addition there is some further investment in town infrastructure with the water pump

Also picked up a pile of fencing and on with the some cover in the form of barrels, boxes and bales for outside Johnson's Dried Good Emporium. The other decks of custom cards - the Money and the Shooting are on the way so should start gaming vary soon.

  1. Very nice buildings. Your town is growning fast, but it is too quiet...

    Best regards.
