The regular weekend meeting game was part of the ongoing Back of Beyond campaign. The Brits had suffered at the hands of the Bolos in a previous battle where they had been attacked by gas shells causing many casualties. As a result the British North Persia force was tasked with inflicting a suitable slap to the Bolos.
A force had penetrated up the Volga from the Caspian Sea and was to hit rail and communications facilities to the south of Tsaritsyn. This was to be a night raid to catch the Bolos at sleep .
The rail workers were on night shift trying to fix a train , aided by the local commisar - or was it encouraged16 blind markers were placed as potential sentries - with only 6 actually being present . Nether side knew which were which until the activated of were actually spotted .
I had made some night fighting rules
A sentry opens up on noise by the ferry .

All in all a fun games
It was challenging at times to run , with night rules and visibility having to be interpreted especially with light , fires etc . I didn’t always remember to apply all my modifications either . The end result was the Brits had inflicted serious damage - which in terms of campaign impact will force the Bolos to spent time and effort here . Brit casualties were upto 50% , but they were able to get them away so that will reduce . The Bolo commander was killed leading a counterattack- probably for the best as she had a lot of explaining to do . It’s also thanks to Martin for the loan of some terrain bits and some suitable Bolo figure - the workers and sailors .
I have also been creating some new flags for the Bolos based on some design principles and to equip each unit with its own individual one to aid unit identification during games
One for the Sailors “Torpedo Odessa”
Cavalry and railway workers
Pleased with those

DeleteFantastic game, excellent terrain to complement the beautiful figures, just a shame the forces of reactionary Imperialism won!
ReplyDeleteYes thanks - most unfortunate comrade
DeleteGreat stuff Dave a good looking game…..I keep thinking I need to get a Russian train but keep putting it off ?
ReplyDeleteYes it’s a must I think . For now this the old Sudan / NWF . I will do something more accurate for it in the future l there are some nice 3d printed bits using S gauge stuff . But a but pricey . I fancy a scratch build
DeleteYes some lovely prints but as you say pricey for what is a bit of terrain. A bit like the submarine I picked up I need to find one at a show Cheap ? Unlikely though
DeleteWhat a magnificent looking table! So many 'extras' and, of course, lovely figures. Your flags look wonderful.
