Picking up those brushes again.

Hi and welcome to the occasional mutterings of Dave Doc, a military modeller and some time gamer. Gaming and model making has given me a real education, History & Geography(obvious really), Artistry, Politics, Economics, Logistics, Project Management -you try building miniature armies without the last 3.

I will use the blog to record my creations & the odd occasion I actually do some gaming.

I have always been inspired by the aesthetic side of gaming. Playing on well constructed terrain using excellently painted units is always a joy.

ACW - Fields, Fences and dirt tracks .

More progress this week. With the completion of some wheat fields - these are made form a piece of thin carpet I found a local home store - it was 48" by 18" and cost £3.50 - so its got plenty of potential yet. I just cut it up and based on 1/32nd plywood , texturing the edge. I did one with some cut out sections so troops can be dropped into the field itself . Still need to do some cornfields yet too.

The dirt track section I had ordered arrived - really pleased with these from "Fatfrank" on e-bay in the UK. No work to these at all - just a simple lay them on the table. I have cut a few of the 12" sections up to give a bit more flexibility , but i have something like 24 feet of dirt track now., with a range , junctions , crossroads, etc too.

The last of the fencing has also been done - gives me about 18 feet altogether.

I have also sourced rail track , and some more bits to kit bash and armoured train together sometime

Table coming along nicely now

12 feetof stream sections , flocked up now too

Time to focus on troops next

  2. If that carpet was made from natural fibres could we claim they were cotton fields? Or would that be cotton wool fields? :) Very cool Dave.
