Picking up those brushes again.

Hi and welcome to the occasional mutterings of Dave Doc, a military modeller and some time gamer. Gaming and model making has given me a real education, History & Geography(obvious really), Artistry, Politics, Economics, Logistics, Project Management -you try building miniature armies without the last 3.

I will use the blog to record my creations & the odd occasion I actually do some gaming.

I have always been inspired by the aesthetic side of gaming. Playing on well constructed terrain using excellently painted units is always a joy.

ACW - More terrain works completed

I have now completed the last of trees I had in stock, which now takes me to 150 altogether. They are a mix of deciduous and conifers. I may get some more deciduous yet, and some poplars in due course.  I have also completed the other 3 buildings I had left to do. I will pick some more of the Pendraken ones up , as I really like them , and they paint up a treat.

I have made some contoured hills from layers of 5mm foam board that can be placed under the mat . I have one that is approximately 600 mm long by 300 wide , and another 300 x 300 for now , they are 15mm high with 3 layers. More in the offing - as they are not exactly taxing to make.

Trees are based in singles , and variable size groups.

The height difference  between troops from ground to hill top level

New small "hut" building
New barn and and wooden town building
Sourced some more bits for the railway from e bay
I now have 12 foot of stream pieces - just need to tone them down a bit and add some flock to get them all looking to the same. I will scratch build a few wooden bridge pieces as well.

its all coming along

next up the final 6 foot of fencing I have on the paint table . I have some dirt tracks on order , and am looking for wheat field / corn field solutions. I have also undercoated another 100 Union figures.

It really makes a change to be ahead of the game with terrain works - and I am talking to some of the guys to book in a game.
