Picking up those brushes again.

Hi and welcome to the occasional mutterings of Dave Doc, a military modeller and some time gamer. Gaming and model making has given me a real education, History & Geography(obvious really), Artistry, Politics, Economics, Logistics, Project Management -you try building miniature armies without the last 3.

I will use the blog to record my creations & the odd occasion I actually do some gaming.

I have always been inspired by the aesthetic side of gaming. Playing on well constructed terrain using excellently painted units is always a joy.

Terrain - more Russian style buildings

Today should have been the monthly games meet , but the stormy weather has put paid to that with winds 50mph -80 mph plus and trees down on some roads , we made a decision to pull it . So that means some extra painting time .  I have a few terrain things to finish up for the game at the Battleground show at the end of November so I thought I would get those done .

These are prints from Battle Honours 3d which paint up nicely. I had hit them with a dark brown / black rattle can undercoat, so just set up with various dry brushed colours to lighten (tan earth, desert yellow , Iraqi sand and some light olive green mixed in )  , then pick out the door and window frames . I also completed the basing on the railway points I had picked up . So that’s another job done

That gives me 4 buildings plus a barn with fencing and scatter . I fancy scratch building some kind of railway building in due course.
